Things to Consider and Care After Hair ~ Beard ~ Mustache ~ Eyebrow Transplantation
After the procedure, the following points should be carefully observed. Adhering to these is very important. This will ensure that the transplanted follicles adhere healthily and that the area where the follicles were taken from heals quickly.
PROHIBITIONS
CIGARETTE
Avoid smoking for 7 days after the procedure to contribute to the rapid healing of the transplanted area.
ALCOHOL
Do not consume alcohol for 7 days after the procedure.
SAUNA-HAMMAM
Avoid going to the sauna and hammam for 2 months after the procedure.
SUN EXPOSURE
Avoid sun exposure for 2 months after the procedure.
TANNING BEDS
Do not use tanning beds for 2 months after the procedure.
SWIMMING
Avoid swimming in the sea or pool for 1 month after the procedure.
SPORT
Avoid sports activities for 1 month after the procedure.
LIFTING HEAVY OBJECTS
Avoid lifting heavy weights for 1 month after the procedure.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Even immediately after the procedure, light physical activity is possible. You can engage in short and light walks or light exercises. The key is to avoid excessive sweating. You can perform these activities for short periods with minimal sweating.
EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT
Although it is advised to avoid sun exposure for 2 months, you should also avoid direct strong sunlight in daily or work life. It is important to avoid direct sunlight for the first 14 days. We recommend wearing a wide and clean hat that does not press on your head.
SEXUAL INTERCOURSE
It is not recommended for 14 days after the procedure.
CONTACT WITH THE TRANSPLANT AREA
Do not touch the area with your hands in the first 3 days. It can cause infection. Folliculitis, or hair follicle infection, may develop. These are small pink-red formations, sometimes with inflammation. They may be itchy. Do not touch them as it can spread to other follicles.
PRODUCTS TO BE USED
You need to use specific medications and products for washing in the first 3 days and the following 2 weeks. Use the medications provided to you properly and according to the schedule. You will be given detailed information about the medications, including what they are, how, and when to use them. It is advisable to use the recommended shampoos for the first 14 days and beyond. They will be included in your post-transplant set. Depending on your doctor's advice, you may need to use a moisturizing spray.
REST
No strict bed rest is required after the procedure. It is advisable to avoid any activity immediately after the procedure and spend that day and night resting. Your days after the procedure will be comfortable. Although it is not necessary, taking a week off work can help you feel more comfortable and avoid facing numerous questions.
SLEEP
Use a high pillow, or even two pillows stacked (at approximately a 45-degree angle), for the first 3 nights to help reduce swelling in the head area. You can sleep on your back or side, but avoid sleeping face down. Make sure the transplanted area does not come into contact with the pillow. Adjust your position to avoid contact with the transplanted area, and you will be given additional information about this after the procedure.
HAT
A hat will provide protection from both the sun and other environmental conditions (such as rain or dust). If the weather permits and you are indoors, do not wear a hat. You can start wearing a hat from the 5th day after the procedure. Wear the hat lightly on your head without pressing it down firmly. Put it on with both hands gently and remove it by pulling it up with both hands. Be careful not to rub the transplanted hair. Keep the hat clean and wash it occasionally.
WASHING STAGES
Washing and caring for the hair/beard/mustache/eyebrows after the procedure is crucial for the health of the transplanted area. Therefore, follow the rules carefully. Washing days and procedures should be as follows:
On the day of the operation, do not wash. The first wash will be done on the 3rd day at our clinic, and you will be shown how to do it.
From the 4th to the 10th day, wash at home: After the first wash at the clinic, you should continue washing at home once daily with the products provided.
From the 10th to the 14th day, after the crusts have fallen off, you can comfortably touch the transplanted area and quickly return to your work and social life.
POTENTIAL POST-OPERATION ISSUES
Having undergone a surgical procedure, you might encounter some issues:
PAIN
Mild pain may occur for a few days after the procedure. You can use the prescribed painkillers for this.
SWELLING
Swelling and edema after the procedure are expected. Swelling may last for 2 to 5 days. There is no cause for concern. Measures against swelling include: The medications prescribed by your doctor will help the swelling or edema return to normal as quickly as possible. You will be informed about how to use these medications.
ITCHING
Itching is a common post-procedure issue and can be seen throughout the transplant area. Proper care, timely washing, and adherence to the recommended treatments and medications will help you manage this more comfortably.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We will take photos of you from various angles at our clinic before the operation. Additionally, photos will be taken immediately after the operation and after the first wash. To monitor your progress, it is necessary to take additional photos at regular intervals. Your process will be followed up thoroughly for a year with regular check-ups and treatments.
